Notes / Documentation:

The WAITE Family of Malden, Mass by Deloraine P. Corey pub 1913 Family notes and genealogy work There is extensive biographical information on William Smith WAIT in the Bond Co. Census and 1882 Biographies. He was an influential farmer and owned a very large apple orchard. He played an important role in getting the railroad through Bond County. Richard Smith WAIT spent several years in Oregon after the Oregon Trail open - along with several cousins- married and then returned to Il where his wife died. He remarried to Frances Haven HAMILTON, who according to the Bond Co census must have lived "next door" and in 1875 they moved to Hanford, California where Richard continued farming. Francis died at age 44 in 1887, leaving Richard to raise his large family by himself.
