Clemens F Schwierjohn
Clemens F. Schwierjohn, 87, of Pocahontas died at 11 p.m
Monday, October 12, 1968, in his home. An inquest is pending.
Born January 6, 1881, in Aviston, Mr. Schwierjohn was the son of
the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank (Catharina Ratermann) Schwierjohn.
He was married to the former Anna A. Mack on October 12, 1909.
He is survived by his wife, Anna, one son, Frank C. Schwierjohn,
of Pocahontas, and one daughter, Mrs. John (Esther Schwierjohn)
Carson of La Salle, Illinois. Four grandchildren also survive.
Mr. Schwierjohn was preceded in death by a brother, William
Schwierjohn in 1967, and a sister, Christina (Schwierjohn)
Schreiber in 1901. He had lived in the area since moving there
from Aviston as a young boy. He was a member of St. Nicholas
Catholic Church, Pocahontas. Funeral services will be held
Friday in St. Nicholas Catholic Church presided by Rev Edward
Groesch. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Pierron. Friends
may call at the Spengel Boulanger Funeral Home, Highland, after
3:00 p.m. Thursday. The Rosary will be said at the funeral home
at 4 p.m Thursday.
[Note: The inquest found that Mr. Schwierjohn had fallen from
the hayloft to the floor of his barn. After walking up to the
house, he said he was not feeling well and wanted to rest. He
laid down and died in his sleep from heart failure.]
